Planning an at Home Disney Birthday

When my son, a determined Disney enthusiast, told me that for his sixth birthday he wanted a Disney world themed birthday, I was thrilled! Disney is one thing that our entire family can agree on, whether it's watching a Disney documentary, clothing, or planning a trip to the Holy Grail of all destinations.

However, I was disappointed to to find that there was almost nothing that closely resembled what I was hoping to pull together for him. Everything was about having parties AT Disney World, or tips on how to navigate there, and even the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed sets that he outgrew at two or three. This wasn't the stage that I wanted to set for his party, and I started to worry that I wouldn't be able to find any foundation for the vision that I had only been able to pull bits and pieces of together on my own.

Then, finally, I found ONE blog, written by a mom that is also from Texas. Play, Party, Plan was the first site I had found that actually gave me tips on how to pull together a Disney birthday party for a BOY. I've saved the link above, so in case you aren't finding what you need here, maybe her blog can inspire you!

We start planning and buying a few months out, so that I'm not crammed with a ton of birthday prices all at once. Here is what I've gathered together so far. All of the prices that I've included from Amazon are with the Amazon Prime price.

Goody Bags:
Mickey and Minnie Goody Bags (14.99, set of 24)
-Disney Books ( I shop at 2nd and Charles to save)
-Mouse Ears (12.99, set of  12--we bought two)
-Party Favor Pack (11.99, 48 pieces)
-Shirts ( I am planning on making these myself with a cricut, just something simple)

Entertainment:
-Mickey Mouse (Leslie's Party Rentals has some amazing deals for Disney Mascots and even has them perform theme shows and cut the cake with your child, but they only serve Houston and the surrounding areas, so we have a family friend that thank GOD happened to have a Mickey Mouse costume--talk about answered prayers!)
-Disney Music playing in the background (if you don't want to buy a CD, Spotify is an amazing alternative and has a ton of Disney music to choose from.)
-Pinata ( We will probably get ours closer down the road from one of the party supply stores nearby, or I may make it myself, but for the sake of allowing options, I'm posting the one from amazon here.
-A Bounce House with a Castle, to look like Magic Kingdom! (We rented ours through Fruit City Inflatables for a really good price.)
-Photo Booth---eh...I may or may not get to this one.

Food:
This is still the going issue...I've debated between doing a breakfast for dinner theme, and allowing the kids to do their own Mickey Waffles, which would be easiest, and is what I'll probably end up doing. No decisions made yet though!

Decorations:

-Each of four tables will be decorated like a different Disney ride at the Magic Kingdom park.
-Disney themed games at each table--most of these we already had, because like I said--Disney fanatics. The others were pretty reasonably priced on Amazon( Disney Family Feud ,Disney MonopolyDisney Guess Who,
-Main table will have regular red, black, yellow and white streamers and decor for Mickey.
-Posters of the Parks (Classic Posters, Set of Four--20.00 to download designs, not including printing costs)
-I also plan to cut out some smaller Mickey's to do a Hidden Mickey game with the kiddos.
-streamers and balloons!

Cake: I wouldn't trust anyone other than BB's Creations to do the cake for our little man!

Happy planning for you and yours!!! If you have anything that might be helpful to me in my planning process, I am all "ears"!!!
